Colin Salt

Your DIY Spot is the brain child of Colin Salt. Colin has 25 years experience in the transport industry as an operator, trainer and assessor. While operating a hire and rental business he noticed there was a need to provide not only the equipment but the space to use it. With this in mind he developed the concept of marrying up a retail hire shop with an industrial workshop to create a metal fabrication workshop that the general public can use. Using his understanding of the training industry he employed the best  fabricators and training techniques to provide direct personalized training to the public. This enables people to undertake the projects that they want with access to great advice and knowledge ready at hand. Colin is focused on teaching people the safe way to learn metal work and welding.

Colin is a qualified Trainer and Assessor, with worksafe accreditation for assessing people to perform high risk work, and is a certified Occupational Health & Safety worksite specialist.

Our Welders

Your DIY Spot will only use, and has attracted the very best welders and fabrication specialist’s to work in the workshop. When required they can assist you or complete the task that you would like.

Our fabricators have been able to perfect the art of welding using different principles such as Stick Arc Welding, MiG Welding (including Aluminium), and Tig Welding. Their skill and understanding of metal fabrication allows them to design and complete projects just as they need to be. As a mentor / trainer this knowledge ensures all of the trainees can not only improve their understanding of fabrication but relate the knowledge to their own work and put it into practice.
