Equipment
We have all the welding gear you could possibly need. Of course, you can bring your own gear if you prefer but it must be checked and cleared by our welding staff first.

These are the MiG welders at Your DIY Spot you can use this equipment. We will show you how to use it all safely and explain everything you need in order to make good, strong welds.
When you enter the workshop you must have on the following gear:
Safety Glasses and Foam Ear Plugs

On your first day at Your DIY Spot, you will be issued with your very own pair of clear safety glasses and ear plugs. These are yours to keep – and you must wear them every time you use the workshop. Eye and ear protection is essential and you will not be allowed to enter the workshop without appropriate protection. If you forget your ear and eye protection, we are happy to sell you more. So save yourself the extra cost and bring them with you every time.
We will provide welding helmets and gloves at the workshop for you to use.
A welding helmet

This is a specialist auto-darkening welding helmet. This is the latest in digital lens technology. It makes welding easy while ensuring your safety. It has full-frontal face protection. It allows you to see what you are working while welding and when the weld has stopped without having to take the mask off.
It allows you to control shade, sensitivity and delay settings for any welding job.
Welding gloves

Welding gloves are essential to protect you from sparks and burns when handling hot materials.
The gloves are 16″ long and made of premium quality selected leather. They are sewn with heat-resistant Kevlar thread, fully lined, welted seams, reinforced palm, thumb and knuckle guard. When you combine these with a sturdy cotton long sleeve shirt your arms and hands will be safe and protected.
Protective Clothing

Ok, we know not everyone is going to look great in overalls, but they really do a great job of protecting you and your clothing. You don’t have to wear them but you do have to wear something just as safe.
Please do not wear any white clothing. Not only will it get dirty super fast, it will also reflect the UV light coming from the welding job and reflect it back up onto your face. So always wear dark clothing, with long sleeves, long trousers – denims of hard wearing King Gee are best.
Please – no syntheic fabrics as they will melt onto your skin should a spark hit the fabric. Cotton or denim fabrics do not do this. Make sure your shirt can button up to the neck – no low-cut tops. You do not want any sparks popping down the front of your shirt. That applies to the ladies and the gents.
Welding Jacket & Chaps

If you are doing a lot of welding for a long period of time, an excellent addition to your welding wardrobe is a heavy welding jacket and a pair of welding chaps. They protect you from sparks and burns, as well as the heat generated by long welding projects.
